Nice picture. That's what I would like to see if I was rail fanning. I really like the picture; it looks like a roll by. Great lighting, I think. (Maybe that means nice job by the sun?! :teeth
It was a "pan" shot I took from the railfan platform in Manchester- the train was doing 10 MPH thru the yard as it rolled off the Fitzgerald Sub and onto the Manchester Sub for the run up to Peachtree City (Atlanta).
Is that paint job from before the C&O/B&O? It looks like Roman reporting marks, as opposed to the sans-serif font of the C&O/B&O and Chessie eras.
It's in the old B&O grey, so it's before Chessie. But it would have to be from before 1972 to be pre-B&O/C&O. Amazing it never got repainted somewhere along the line. I still see ones in Chessie paint now and then, but B&O stuff is scarce.
Don't you mean pre-1963? I'm talking B&O/C&O as seen here http://railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=126783 as compared to pre-1963 here http://railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=134923 Well, I'm not sure if the latter is the last scheme before 1963, but it's before then, anyway. The lettering is the important thing, isn't it?
