CPKC 148, the daily Vancouver-Chicago intermodal cruises at 25 MPH, the max authorized speed for trains going thru Minot on CPKC tracks, and drifts under the signal bridge at Minot West before dawn:
I would guess that during that time frame they might have experienced car shortages. So had to use whatever could be sent.
"Into the Sunset" A classic footbridge in Minot, which crosses the old GN yard east of downtown, has been removed. A timely tip enabled this last look at a familiar landmark in the Magic City. The crane that removed the south stairs rests at left, ready to lift the steelwork from the piers the following day. This, unbeknownst to me, was the final railfan photo I captured from it, a bit more than a week prior.
That's such a fine looking station, love the Santa Fe logo detail. I read on Wikipedia that Temple was named after Bernard Moore Temple, a Civil Engineer for the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe Railway Company, later AT&SF.
From one of my wife’s friends who is living in Korea right now. From the Suwon station, sometime this past week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That lead engine looks for all the world like an export version of an EMD tunnel motor! A close look at the radiator section suggests two internal fans, and the dynamic brake assembly right behind the cab looks just like the ones EMD put on their G16 (and other G-series export locos). Nice catch!
