They are at Mid-America Car in KC now waiting for paint/body and some mechanical work. After everything is done, they will be heading to Manly, IA to be ran and displayed at the new Museum there. They also have 3 ex-RI GP7s in CNW scheme awaiting repaint back to RI colors. I am sure one will retain a CNW scheme as this could very well be the new home of the Rock Island Technichal Society and the CNW Historical Society. http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/archivethumbs.aspx?id=76979
Nice! At least you got to see it running. It was at the end of the line in Ottawa waiting for pick up when I went to see it back in September last year. I did see the NYC RS3 and an RS-2/3M though.
I sure hope they can make this effort really go. Maybe grab up a few other rare units, before they can meet a scrapping torch. CGW, M&St.L, etc, etc.
Me too. It would be nice to see some Burlington and Milwaukee Road stuff go there as well. I hope Dan Sabin gets it going too. It would be nice to see some great Mid-Western fallen flags shown proudly once again. I hope one of the GP7's goes to the black and red barber pole scheme as delivered.
Montana Rail Link had quite a few old Geeps. NP, GN, M&St.L and one CGW. Might still have, but they sent a batch of assorted units out for scrap last year.
