I run DCC on my layout, but most or the clubs in my area run regular DC. Is it possible to run my locos on the DC layouts without harming the DCC decoder? Will the performance be different? .....Mike
As a DCC novice, Yesterday I was programming some Digitrax decoders for use in SD40-2s and C44-9W. I use the NCE system and during setup it asks you wether you want to use the loco on a DC layout or not. I am not yet fully DCC therfore, I said yes. I also have an SD60 with a Lenz Decoder I run successfully on a DC layout. I think the thing to remember is to understand what you ae inputing into the deceoder. I read my instruction manual thoroughly before I programmed these engines and have had no problems. I also found the NCE system very simple and easy to use, the prompts on the screen also help.
