    I need your wise experience.

I am building a pond on my layout. The area it is going is constructed of foam with latex paint over it.

Any thoughts on what to use for the water that will not eat the foam?

Iwould suggest that you use gloss medium for your water. This is the only thing that I use.

I suggest you have a look at the post I have made in the Nscale Forum. We used a product called Liquid Glass, it is a two pak mixture that is applied similiar to an epoxy. I believe it is used as a covering for wooden furniture as a protective coating.

It has the desired effect for still water. We poured it over a prepared base of plaster and weed, you can see through it, it looks great. :D

EnviroTex is , I believe foam friendly, as is the Woodland Scenics EZ water. However as long as you compleatly seal the surface with a thin coat of plaster, any kind of resin will work fine. PS open the windows :D .....Mike [IMG]

    Here's my 2 bits, (inflation!).
Gloss medium is good for small to medium sized bodies of water, you can also do some pretty cool wave effects. Envirotex or other 2 part resins are NOT foam freindly! Seal the surface with about 1/4 inch of Hydrocal. You may have to make several 'pours' as you don't want a layer any thicker than 1/8 inch to prevent cracking. Resins make great calm water. I have tried 'easy water' by Woodland Scenics and I wasn't impressed, it was hard to use and turned yellow and cracked after a few months. Hope that helps you decide, ;)

Say it ain't so about Woodland Scenics easy water. I haven't "poured" my pond yet but in preparation I've already bought the easy water. Has anyone else had similar problems?
Also since yours cracked and turned yellow was it easy to remove?

    Hi,
I tried EZ Water some time ago for a small project. It cracked and turned a yellow-ish color. Glad I didn't use it for my lakes and rivers. I went back to my old tried and tested method with "HIGH GLOSS YACHT VARNISH"
To me this gives a great result.

There are others on the market such as Envirotex or clear Casting Resins, but I still like the Varnish finish.

    Mike,

I saw your posts in the N scale forum. Great looking water. What type of store carries liquid glass? craft, hardware, etc.
