Nice! If you just measure the length between front to rear steps, I can also draw up handrails for your SD45. I have 4 brass SD45's already, 2 Rio Grande that I am repainting into NP's, and 2 BN's.

Great work David. As always, a excellent kitbash. Looking to the back ground, it looks like there is a caboose, and a GP9 with its nose cut off. Looks like there is high nose in your future.

the caboose is a work in progress. i've gotten sidetracked! there's not a GP9 with a nose cut off -- the black shell in the back is an SD70 (NS). the grey cab in the center is an MTL GP35 cab that i narrowed this morning to fit on the SD70. with a few mods here and there they will come together as an SD50 (Rio Grande!!!!). next i'll build the "laundry shoot" and do some filing and smoothing here and there. it will be a beauty, i think. SD50s were the last big power the Rio Grande owned before being assimilated by the borg.

Wow, so this project actually will come to fruitition. Man O man, unbelievable.
Cause for celebration galore. Dave we thank you so profusely, without your dedication
and superb modeling skills this project would never have been born.
Also to be thanked are the greatest modelers in any scale, Sgt. Tim and Robert Ray.

This makes me want a pair.. But I've no cash to buy the AZL 70's! Then again, should that stop me? I could get the mechs later, and sell the shells to someone here that will use them again in a kitbash!

    How much for 2 shell/kits?

    Not My Project!!!

I am not the owner of this project!!!

    This is David's Project!

You can consider Robert Ray and Myself as Sub-Contractors helping to bring this awesome project to Fruition!!!! (Taste like Peach!!! Hah!! Just Kidding!)

Any dealings for the SD70ACe Shell Kits need to be thru David.

Please, before everyone gets all worked up give me time to recieve and inspect the shell to derive the best way to produce the molds to try and eliminate all bubbles so all castings will be perfect!!!! When the first casting is produced I will give it a light airbrushing of grey to show all details and we can all decide then how many we want!!! Cause I am sure no one person is going to want just One!!!! Nope, I see this as a Lays Potatoe Chip project, can't just get One!!

    Stay Tuned!!

O.K., so I order with you, David. Even the shell is not a 100% bubble free, I don't care. So please don't consider to stop casting because you can't get it bubble-free! A 90% o.k. shell is 1,000,000 times better then no shell! My order is fix!

I found myself backlogged through the holidays, but finally caught up, and was able to finish drawing the handrails as well as measure up the shell for decals.

I first drew them up over scale drawings, and then made some adjustments for the shell master.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I did raster etch these with .010" Acrylic to test fit, and they fit just right.

Here is a drawing for the handrails that just need to be formatted for etching:

Acrylic for handrails, hmm. That sounds like it could be more durable than brass or stainless. Was this just a test or possible production option?
