    Gary,
started a new thread. The other one was getting a bit long. As for the picture of the '45s (#6491-6492), we may both have the same one. (dated 12-05-88 at St. Paul on txfr run). But you can clearly see the BN green on the nose ahead of the cab (except on extreme front) and the rear of the long hood and the frame sides and walk ways. Also looks like the brake wheel area on rear of the long hood was left green from the cheat line to the frame, maybe 24" wide. Hope this helps. Let me know if you ever do one, I'd like to see the color pictures of it. (not as neat looking as when they were FRISCO, but unique none the less).

    Hi Bill,
Yep! That's the one - page 107 of the Soo Line 1975-1992 Photo Archive. Possibly one of the easiest schemes to reproduce outside N&W/NS and Penn Central. The 'Brick' on the opposite page is neat as well.
That's another point - Frisco. I will need to do a couple of those just to be representative on the BN side of things. Pity Kato bodies cost so much - it would be easy to have a few spares painted in other numbers and roads. [IMG]

    Gary,
whadda ya mean Kato shells cost so much?...They're only three times as much as Atlas!!! (heck of a deal!) The trick is to get 'em on eBay, and save a couple of bucks.

p.s. there's a guy (The N-shell Master) who trades shells off and on, maybe he could help. (but sometimes his supplies are spotty)

    Bill,
If Atlas can do it for 1/3, why can't Kato? US$40 for a SD40 body complete is loony-tunes!
I haven't had much to do with Ebay. It's a little hard to deal with it remotely. But some informaton on the N-shell Master would be appreciated.

    Gary.

ps. Received my shippment of 4 GP9 bodies complete plus an array of other parts today. Looks like a batch of Paducah GP10's are on the cards - all for TC&W [IMG]

    Gary,
if you ever want to get something from eBay, let me know and I can work it from this end, then ship it to you. Just give me the specs, like model, how much you want to pay, etc. I don't know what the postage to you would be, but shells etc don't weigh too much.
I emailed Fred Collins, the shell guy and when he replies I'll try to get your address to him. He usually has a lot of shells on hand, but never know if he'll have just what a person wants at a particular time. I've been bugging him for a couple of weeks now to join us here, but so far he hasn't. He's an N&W fan, and loves to run those 100+ unit coal trains with mid-train helpers. Awesome!

Gary, tell me your plans for the "Paducah" GP10s. Also, you said a batch....does that mean for your personal use, or are you planning to sell them to others?

Thanks Bill. I have yet to hear from Fred.
The Paducahs will become 2 additional TC&W units, plus I'll have 2 spares for Soo GP9's. I might consider doing the spares as chop-noses at the same time, though.
I wasn't planning on selling them to others, I haven't really considered it. Maybe there is a market for them but I would have to sit down and work out a fair and reasonable price for doing them, if I do.
Are you interested, or know someone who is?

    Gary.

    Gary,
sorry about Fred. He is sometimes slow to respond. Must be busy, I guess.
Thought a GP10 would be neat to own. Would need to know info upfront, cost, liveries available, detail parts you plan to use etc.
Let me know what you think.
