I was writing to see if SP really painted any F units in daylight colors. I have an athearn F7A Dummy in Daylight and was wondering about the numbering. I bought it years ago for about 10 bucks. However when I looked it up online to see if there was a pic of the prototype or the accuracy of the model the only daylight diesels i found were E units. Also the 6054 was an E9 so the numbering was off. I know that SP did alot of F units in black widow scheme but was curious about the F units in daylight. thank you all in advance, your help is appreciated. jai
Hello Jai, SP did not paint any of there F3's or F7's Daylight. The only F unit to be so painted was a Cotton Belt FP7. Have a good one,
Daylight F's As mentioned by SP-Wolf the only F unit in Daylight colours was Cotton Belt FP-7 306. ALL other F units were in Black Widow paint only until the Red & Grey scheme of 1959. It took many years to repaint the F units into Red & Grey and many were NOT repainted before going for trade in on new power. None were renumbered in the 1965 renumbering. SP 6432 and 8104 a A-B pair were in Black Widow paint until the end. These two units were the last to run in service and were retired in 1972.
