I don't how many of you are familiar with Al Krug, a BNSF engineer in Montana. Al maintains a website where he posts photo essays of his various trips. He has quite an interesting site. I've explored it a few times. Since he normally runs into the eastern half of my state, I get to see a few of the railfan happenings. And get a unique perspective of his job. Both Al, and "The Tuch" are very good authors on current railroad life. It's ups, and too many downs. Boxcab E50
Hank, I read Al's article when he first posted it on trainorders. Can you imagine what a thrill that must have been for him, even as a bona fide engineer?? BTW I just got published over on Railway Preservation News, an article on "Let's Roll" the 4449's aux tender.
Jim, that's a nice article, you write well! Also your photo of the water wagon behind 700 was a nice tie-in for me to Al Krug's piece. Thanks.
