I have a starlite 222 lantern. Does anyone know where I could get the main or flood light bulb for this particular model? I think that a plastic piece is missing in the bigger light bulb holder. I have the smaller light bulb working. It takes a 6 volt battery too. Can someone please help me out? Thanks.
mine's a model 292 and the floodlite section has a screw-on lens cover for the concave portion. Your's doesn't appear to have that. You should be able to find the bulbs at most hardware stores. Failing that, try a lighting or electrical supply house. Take your burned out bulb with so it can be matched easier. Never had to worry about spare bulbs since I got them from the YM or TM. Same with batteries except we helped ourselves to those. They had cases of them sitting on the shelf. Throw the old one in the recycle can! Charlie
When I received this from my grandfather it had no battery or a floodlight, so today I took it to a hardware store and got a 6 volt battery and took the lantern in with me to see if they could find a right bulb to go in the flood light section, I had no luck. When I put the 6 volt in the smaller light works, I just need the bigger flood light that is missing in the picture, so What kind of bulb needs to go in there? And also where might I find that concave plastic piece you are talking about. Thanks for helping.
I don't have mine in front of me, but I had to replace one of the bulbs years ago. If I remember right both bulbs are the same and it is the reflector that determines how the light is dispersed. The flat part let the light spread out and the cone focuses the light to a "beam." I found the bulb at my local hardware that has odd items. The biggest problem is that the bulbs that came in it do not have any markings, I think it could be a #502. You can contact Star to see if they will help. Here are a web sites that may be of help http://www.flashlightmuseum.com/Sta...-Burlington-Northern-Railroad-Lantern-6V-1970 http://www.railroadcatalog.com/trainlogstar.html Gary
Both bulbs are the same. This one from RadioShack should be functional: 6.3V/250mA Incandescent Flashlight Bulb Threaded Base
