Lucky find! Those are slowly becoming harder to spot. Many former Milw cars have been partially altered. At least having a restencil to a new owner. I have seen some of the yellow C-6 hoppers the past six months. But all are rather patchy. Filthy. And have new owners marks. Boxcab E50
Milw 101518 (Yellow PS Covered Hopper) came across the Albina One Spot today. Very faded, but all original markings intact, except for load weight blacked out. "Americas Resorceful Railroad" placard on left side, rusted through to the point pretty much gone, right side placard was in much better shape. only grafitti was one small mark, on one of the hopper bays. Sorry no pictures, I'll try tommorow if we don't get a "pull" tonight. Sorry I have been a ghost, as of late, 72 hrs overtime in just the the last 2 weeks. BTW, we are going to be hiring more Carmen for Portland.
I see the occasional ex-Milwaukee car roll through here behind KCS locos..pics will come forth, now that requests are made....
Digital is great! You can instantly see if what you captured is how you'd hoped. And the downloads at home allow immediately printing, or sharing. If only digital was around 30 years ago! BoxcabE50
I know..I just can't afford the one I want yet... Canon Rebel EOS digital..still over $400... I'm not a cheap date, that's for sure..LoL
As taken 03/31/1979 at Knoxville, TN, MILW 2524 wasn't a "survivor" at the time, but I wanted to post the picture anyway. Last summer in WI, I found a similar Fox Valley Models N Scale ribside version of this car with the same paint at a local hobby shop and am very happy to have it.
From 04/16/1987 at Portage Jct., WI was a 40' ribside in company service I'm guessing. In 1987 this would have been a "survivor", right? From 10/1988 at Montgomery, AL, what appears to be MILW 6343, with a 66' 10" OL and twin plug doors.
Yes. It is M-O-W. Although MILW equipment was usually X-then six digits. This is a bit different, so may have been restenciled by the Soo Line. Note also in small letters beneath is "MWM". Maybe a Soo fan can confirm this as a policy? I pretty much stopped following much of the dispositions, after that merger.
Who remembers the MidSouth RR. Here's one of their cars shot back in July. Even still has the MSRC reporting marks - Artesia MS 7/8/22
