This is really neat to follow this construction all the way through. I am really enjoying it. OTOH, I liked watching construction of the other modules, too! I see that the asphaltum is a rust/weathering color. I am going to use that one tomorrow. Thanks.
This has been a great thread! I really enjoyed seeing the steps along the way. That most recent picture has several outstanding features, including the (stained?? painted??) crossing boards, multiply-textured shrubbery next to the building, great ballasting and track decorating, and handsomely weathered caboose. :sun: :sun: :sun: :sun: More to come?? (I hope!)
Thanks everyone! I have now added some trees, foliage, clump foliage, and fine leaf foliage to the scene.
Bravo....... It is really coming together. I can just imagine spotting some cars into that area. Nice job. Keep the inspiration coming......
Thanks folks! Here is where I finished up the scenery near the Cement Distributor. I added a mailbox and electric pole to the office. I also added an electric meter and a smoke stack.
Tom: What is that piece of debris under the electrical box? Looks like a sofa? Concrete blocks? Thanks. I am going to do this to one of my N scale cabooses I made long ago.
After seeing another modeler’s photo of a roof he ballasted I decided to give it a try. I always thought that there was something missing on the cement distributor. Next will be weathering the ballast.
That makes for a nice change so it's different than a straight out of the box kit. I can see how this would work on just about any roof. Thanx for sharing the idea!:lightbulb:
Hi Tom, I am a recent trainboard member and this is the first time I have seen your work, great stuff. I love the caboose/office, in the first few pics I though it looked a little out of place but as you added more and more detail it really started to look right at home. Thanks for the really insightfull thread, a mine of ideas and inspiration. Keep up the good work. Cheers, Ken.
