I have finally got some work finished this week. I had to get new lights for the engine. a new dcc chip and paint. #8 is on the lines working perfect. The next part of work is on #95. its a FP7a that is getting a facelift to C&O markings for passenger service to Cass from down to the main lines. have a couple of shots of the #8 on the main I am doing better i see my doctor tomorrow and will find more out then. I am holding off the work on the addition for now. I need to do some work on the room to give me the room i need. I got to get the sidings done in the tunnel before i can put the final section in the corner. I can't craw under or over the new section but with it not there. I am still trying to figure out how i am going to change the side of the mountain back where the new section will connect to the old.I don't want a door but a side of the mountain. somehow i need to make that happen. Anyway, thats part of my fun. have a good one

I am doing pretty good The doctor wants me to have some tests next week. I am covid free now and he just wants to make sure its completely gone. Another thing thats bugging me is my hands. I am taking two meds and he upped the med amount today. I can use for just so long and they start cramping like crazy. My thumbs go nuts in both hands. It really slows me down as to working on the layout and using the computer. Colder weather don't help. they ache so bad outside even if i have my winter driving gloves on. Its cold outside. going to the doctors the temps were at 9 degrees. I had the heat on high the whole way to doctors and back. So i am trying to get something done. I hate not being able to do a lot without the hands start cramping again. Maybe the new up'ed dose will help more. I guess thats all for me right now. I have two new cars now that are for my coal mine. shots below. Have a good one, smoke

I have several injuries from the past that cause regular pain. I tried that roll on Aspercreme stuff on my hands and it helps somewhat.

I am using a cream as well. Started with the cream first back last year when i first started getting the pain. 7 months later i still use the cream but it don't seem to be doing anything great. I bet if i stopped using the cream i would notice the difference. So i am using the cream and a couple of pills and hope for the best.

Its about time i updated this thread. i hadn't done much to the rr other than tear the control panel off and am trying to repair some damage done when they put the new rug in. That was the Christmas present to me and the rr as i was tired of splinters and the cars and engine that took a dive were glad to to see that there was carpet and it has a good pad under neigh it. i got all the foam board cut out the table is here and i have to do some measurement of the long piece for the new run around track for the passenger station. A bit at a time so i don't wear myself down. I don't want to wear myself down to where i end up back in the hospital. I am taking a bunch of meds as my iron is down. I am going anemic and red blood platelets are low. This was discovered while i was in the hospital. they keep taking my blood and i keep telling them they are taking my blood so its low. hehe, its a pain getting old. between going to the hospital for Xrays and blood draws I have a little time so i can work on the railroad. I look forward to that and with a little luck i could loose the doctors. Anyway the most of my time is working on ideas for the rr and how to do it. I got a good plan that has expanded but still easy to do. Someone sometime down the road should get a nice Model Railroad to run. Its all fun. Later i will show some shots

Best wishes on recovery. I have had the Covid 19 twice with no complications and very little discomfort during.
Perhaps it's because I had Coronavirus in '71 after serving as an assistant DI before heading to VietNam. I get it about every 2-3 years and was diagnosed in '98. I also have little use of my trigger fingers on the right. Due to farm injuries' when 12 yrs. old.
Hoping you have a speedy recovery.

Thanks all. Now if i can figure out just how i am going to connect the front piece of foam to the layout. I think i am going to try the sturfry wood sticks like i did the other sections but this piece is smaller so i got to make sure it won't hit it to much. I will have some pictures maybe tomorrow. Its a mess right now. No place for a camera and tripod with the foam all over. Shots coming i promise. I am working slow. Taking breaks and drinking as much water as i can.

I got some pictures but there not in order. the piece of foam i s cut out and is laying on the sturfry sticks. the 1X12 i am using for the new control panel is siting on a fan and heater. Best i can do for the time being. Anyway i need to sand the wood down and make it smooth. Gonna use clear gloss on it like i did on my desk. Anyway, i am taking a break before i use my sander on the wood.the two pieces of foam are glued and drying.

I was looking for the way to cross the river. I had planed to run the track before the river but it won't fit. Running it across the river works and having one of the go around's before the track connects with the main again. and the main is the second run around. I am having a issue with how much track for... Even using my tape measure isn't easy. These shots are for the new run around for the passenger station. i am running a new trestle for the run around track. and now a new piece of the river to carve out. I get one problem solved and i get another. In the end, i will get it right. My biggest issue i am trying to figure out is how to make a mountainside that can be removed when needed for service in the tunnel. Thats gonna be fun. I know others have done it and i will figure it out in time. Shots of the build below. One thing about it. I don't have to build it in two days.

I've seen densely-planted trees used to block the view of the joint-line between removable and fixed terrain. Sometimes a low-cliff-side helps disguise the divide. Or a combination of both (i.e. that seeks to provide a reason for a boundary-line between trees in foreground vs background.) Provide a reason for the mind to accept an abrupt change in terrain as "natural."

I was thinking grasses and cracks in the rock face might do it. I will have to try it when i get there. I am taking a break for today. I want to get the layout away from the wall so i can touch up the marks that are on that wall. Maybe tomorrow...

True, almost anything that is free-standing: brush, shrubs, a fence, etc. could do it. All you need is something that obscures the view of the seam, that stays with the foreground piece.
