French Gulch on the south end of Breckenridge CO holds a few things of interest; the remains of a bucketline dredge, a small cemetery and some structures, old mines and tailing piles, but before you get to all of that there is the rotary plow and train on display on Boreas Pass road at the snow plow park. Harking from Alaska, but wearing Denver Leadville and Gunnison RY colors.
Great photo! It was a good idea to put it in grayscale - it really brings out the rough edges, the scored metal, the heavy boits and rivets, the massiveness of the mechanism, like some Victorian leviathan of the time of the Bazalgette, Brunel, etc. If it makes me write stuff like the above paragraph, it has to be really good!
Thank you sir. Tried to capture the massiveness and how tough it must have been for 3-4 engines pushing a rotary through 20ft refrozen mountain snow drifts.
