Well, now I am thinking on it a bit. (Note the smell of a slipping 1950's car clutch....) At one time, wasn't there a friendly affiliation of sorts, between the RI, The SL-SF and the Mopac? I know that during one period the RI and SL-SF were using an identical train order paperwork. It was one of those semi-merger situations, which was not allowed by anti-trust or similar law.

Someday I'll get back to the scenery, just not sure when? But for now the juices are flowing.
After getting the U25B & U28B refurbished, the gears started turning once again.

So next up: Two GP40's and a GP7R.

All three will be in the Red and Yellow scheme.

The GP40's will have two different numbers from different orders.
One will be in the high 300 series that got repainted, the other will be in the low 4700 series that were delivered in Red and Yellow.

The GP7 will be a rebuilt GP7R in the 1200 series which was rebuilt and painted by Morris-Knudson during the CRP (Capital Rebuilding Program). Unfortunately some didn't stay in Red and Yellow very long as the Rock Island officials decided shortly afterwards that they were going to start painting their locos in the Blue and White. So some of the Red and Yellow GP7R's were repainted as soon as they were delivered back to the Rock Island and were renumbered into the 4400 and 4500 series, but some did retained their original numbers and the Red and Yellow paint until the end.

The red and yellow is a very attractive color scheme. They will be very nice additions to your locomotive roster.

    Thanks.
I've been wanting a few more Red units to offset all the maroon ones I've done over the last couple of years.

Variety in locomotive paint schemes makes model railroading more fun IMHO. Even though I’m not a Rock Island fan I’ll be following your progress.

    GP7 #1201 joins the fleet.
Painted with Tru-Color Rock Island Red and Yellow.
Faded wit Pan pastels, weathered with Pan Pastels and and Tamiya Panel Liner.
Decals by Micro Scale and Shell Scale.
I applied a 5 chime horn, sun shades and spark arrestors and 1mm jewels for the marker lights.
    Micro Trains 1015's
I added a pre wired 804 LED to get a brighter headlight to the Digitrax DN163a0.

I toned down the vibrant red and added a few battle scars since I'm modeling 1979. The image further up posts was taken in 1976 and only a couple years old.

I like locomotives that look like they have been used as opposed to sitting in a wash rack all day. (y)(y)

Thanks! It's a real stark difference, then when you toss a clean Blue and white unit in the mix you almost get a rainbow! ;)

WOW. I enjoyed the noticing realistic operating speed of your train. The Creek segment leaves me hoping to soon be viewing more completed scenery!

    Me too Boxcab.
I'm hoping that once I get my fix of locos after the next two GP40's, I'll find the ambition again to work on the farm scene.
I'm getting to point where I'm programming my locos for slow speeds. Watching videos where folks have their locos and trains running at warp speed is becoming a turnoff. It enhances the realism and adds to the play time.
I remember visiting an HO IAIS layout a few years ago and he had his locos programmed to a max speed of 25mph and his yard goats at 12mph. It was all I could do to not try twisting off the knob to get them to move faster. It's kind of rubbed off since then.

Love the chipped paint look on the end of the El Dorado depot. Did you post about that previously?

Outstanding work! As good as any factory paint job out there, and then the weathering takes it over the top!
