I grew up in a woodshop that was exactly like that. My father was meticulous about everything. It never really took with me though HAHA I have a hard enough time remembering where I left my keys in a 900sq ft house, let alone where the tin snips should go after every use. I have a couple of friends that are just as anal about their tools, as well. Occupational hazard of befriending EEs and guitar techs, I guess?
Wait! You guys utilize a peg board?! I just buy thin plywood and drill all those holes myself to save money.
No pegboard for me, just throw the tools in a drawer and no one ever knows what's in there or if organized. Out of site, out of mind
Yeah, that works until all drawers and every single available horizontal surface is cluttered with train stuff ... Then ya start putting everything into boxes and pile the boxes one on top of the other in the closet, under the layout, on the work bench in the garage ... It never ends...
Gotta love those lifetime 2x4 Adjustable Height fold-in-half tables if I identify in your pic correctly. Bought one in May, a real handy table to have around...
Take my desktops and canned air outside once a year for a good dust removal session, especially P/S and CPU fans. And, do the same with rolling stock offsite. Have a very fine brush to dust off too.
This is it... The adjustable height is really nice. Supported 14" laptop, docking station, 24" monitor, keybd, mouse and room for coffee to boot! Also had the 2x4 layout on it a short time last June before boxing. It worked great.
For blowing out PC, I use my compressor, that is if you have a compressor. Canned air is too expensive!
Organized? What? You mean that having a cluttered up desk, upon which you generally know where each tool or detail item is, generally, isn't organized?? A perfectly organized tool bench, etc. reminds me of Rimmer, on Red Dwarf! (If you don't know this, do look it up! Folded and hung up underwear , for example!) Everything must be just organized enough to keep us mostly saNe........
Was looking for my adhesive clips, and stuff, still haven't found them. But when looking found a brand new N SCale Remote Switch Machine which I needed I need this one really bad. Might need some more in the future, but should be good for now. Saved me another $16.00 I had already spent!
So taken some time off for a few month's from the layout. How do I change speed step on the NCE Powercab? Can I use that button when locomotive is selected to change it quickly? Or do I have to change CV's?
It is in the CV's, CV29 specifically. There should be a table in the booklet. And they have answers here, https://ncedcc.zendesk.com/hc/en-us
I was able to choose 28/128 on the NCE PowerCab. But I will look at the CV's later, and I might have messed with the power stuff, I don't remember though. Was so long ago when I set these up.
Put a blue post it note under it to see. Looks like ripples to me. How you paint it back or front? Just testing, think it will work for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Checking the wiring on the main 2x4 base. Gonna try to clean things up, and get the Turn Out switches and WS lighting working correctly again. On the bed are the momentary switches for the powered turn outs. Have to get it all working again.
Most people here know I love my Kato N GE ES44DC CSX 'Boxcar' Logo locomotives I own. But I have to tell you for testing and running a single locomotive, till I get the Midnight Blue one, the Kato P-42 Amtrak is just the best locomotive I have ever owned. It's heavy, run's great, and of course the livery for this one is just fantastic to me. Incorrectly so, I run it alone, as a switcher, etc... I hope I am not jinxing myself by saying how much I like it. And I sure hope the Kato P-42 Midnight Blue one is just as good? And my Kato CSX and the rolling stock that match them, forget their name, is also amazing. Kato Gunderson or something I think well cars, are the best! A couple of other people here swear by them too. Forget who they are? Chime in please, if you really like, the Kato P-42's! As usual having issues with those dang TINY little wires on the WS light's. Have something coming tomorrow from Amazon to help fix them You'll see in the Purchase area tomorrow, or soon
