Hello, I designed a pair of tunnel portals using ACAD and had them laser cut by a service provider. They are parts for my new Z layout. The parts were glued with wood glue, then colored with Vallejo paints and pigments. I will report further about the installation, also there will be a presentation of the layout, Regards Gerhard
Gerhard, The portals came out really nice. The color and inconsistency of the bricks is very interesting, and realistic at the same time. I have not tried by Vallejo paint, but should give them a shot. Lance
Gerhard, Wow! They look great! Love the paint job you did. Vallejo paint is great, I use it all the time. It is definitely taking the much need place of Polly-S and Floquil paint. John
Thanks, I'm thinking about buying a laser cutter, I've already tried a few things. Drawn with ACAD, imported into Corel Draw, works. Gerhard
Great to see keystones. Nice patina and varied shades from water leakage. Add some smoke shades too. The best is the random shape/size of the bricks! And some cracked ones too. Did you hand draw? Do the German portals have dates on them?
I have drawn the portals with ACAD, if that is what you mean. German portals sometimes have the year of manufacture. I have orientated myself on pictures from North America, therefore the shape of the portal. Mostly the portals are concrete, which I then converted to natural stone, a bit freehand. There will soon be pictures of the plant and the construction, there is a main line from which then a branch line off to the higher industry. Gerhard
