Hi Everyone, July 30th, 2000. Is there anyone on This Board, who is Experienced in Installing the Unimate Couplers in N Scale Diesels. If so I can B reached at - grandtrunkent@RRmail.com. Thanks Now. ------------------ Best Regards, Andrew Wallice Matheson, grandtrunkent@RRmail.com
Andy, Unless you're never going to uncouple them, I'd give this project a pass and install either Micro-Train or Accu-Mate couplers. Unimates are not a "bump" coupler and DO NOT have an automatic uncoupling action. Most of the Unimates I put in my locos in the past, were for "matched sets" that never ran apart from each other or "Lead Only" units. I have since given up on using Unimates except for my Passenger Locos and I may even not use them for that in the future. Just my thoughts on the subject... ------------------ BNSF RAILFAN-TO-THE-MAX! Brent Tidaback, Member #234 and a N-Scaler to boot! Unimates are not boxed. Just remove the old coupler (M/T or whatever) and screw or use original retaining piece to mount the Unimates. These are what I use on my SD70 & 75 MAC because the original MT's interfered with the truck movement. On the SD45's, I use them to reduce unwanted break-aways on long trains. ------------------ Keep on Track'N at www.phcomputing.com Harold Riley
