Thought I'd start off this weekends foto fun with some shots of my just finished MoPac Cupola caboose. This shot is a comparison of the same Rock Island caboose I started with and the finished MoPac caboose. Still two more caboose projects in the wings than that should finish it.
Sweet Cabeese! I have some bench... If you have some advise, see layout design thread... Thanks, Loco1999
I am waiting for some parts to come in so that I can finish my GP10's. I was looking around and found this photo. MP 531 - a GP18 at Wichita, Kansas - July,1972 - Lee Berglund photo/T. Greuter collection From: http://www.trainweb.org/screamingeagle/loco_1gen_gp18.html Since I model the MoPac as one of my interchange roads I thought it would be cool to have a unique unit on the layout. I realized that I had just about everything I needed, as far as parts, on hand to build this locomotive. The only thing I don't have is the exhaust stacks with spark arrestors. Does anyone know if someone makes this style? I've ordered paint and decals for this unit. I plan on having it ready for painting by the time they get here. MoPac style chopped nose GP18, future MP 531.
Tad, Thats fantastic what was the original shell you used? You do realise once finish you have to post in the MoPac thread
Nice work, guys. Tad, the MoPac GP18's arrestors are similar to the old Loco-Motives arrestors. Not available unless hidden at the back of a drawer somewhere. The mold cracked some years back and lost all the Loco-Motives parts as they were all on the same sprue, particularly their beautiful all-weather windows. I believe deLuxe may have come into the possession of the mold in view of repairing it. I did play with making a 'H' profiled former to fold fine mesh over as an alternative.
Paul, I used a Life-Like Rock Island GP18 shell, GP 20 nose, cab, and sill. Blow by blow can be seen here: GP18 Project Thanks, Gary, I guess I'll have to figure it out.
UP Mike: Loco1999 is putting both layout in that space. Stay cool and run steam....... [ November 27, 2005, 08:42 AM: Message edited by: Powersteamguy1790 ]
Flash: loco1999's layout is in his basement. Stay cool and run steam....... [ November 27, 2005, 08:44 AM: Message edited by: Powersteamguy1790 ]
SNFF 2005 11 27 Hi, all, Ballasting the Kato Unitrack on my layout is nearing completion, after starting nearly 6 months ago (can only squeeze an hour here, an hour there). Figure I'll put in about 40 hours total on this ballasting project once I complete it. It's worth it: Continuing to weather all the locomotive fleet and rolling stock (that's what got me started on the ballasting). Here is the Arnold Santa Fe S-2 remotored for me by Hans Starmanns, looks a lot better with some weathering: Happy Thanksgiving, all!
Thanks guys. That would be the new basement. N on Top, HO on Bottom.... Until one takes over. Loco1999
Nice work guys. I spent the week fitting a soundchip in a Bachmann 0-6-0 (HO). Not the easiest thing I've done but worth it. Here's some pics of how I did it. I moved the motor to free up some space in the bodyshell Then I fitted the speaker and decoder Lastly, I painted the decoder and speaker sides black, and fitted some glazing to hide it all. Jon
