From 03/17/1997, Grand Canyon Railroad train at the Grand Canyon, AZ station. Alco FPA-4 6773 (former VIA 6773, CN 6773) continued in service until 2009, but remains with the Grand Canyon along with its FPA-4 bretheren (6793 and 6776, plus B-Units 6871 and 6860.
That's a beautiful photo just because of that. The dark, stark lighting has its own qualities. A very breathtaking and photogenic area for its rolling terrain, the Gassman Coulee trestle, and plenty of gorgeous sky to go around.
Hello, gorgeous! For a locomotive model sold only to CN in Canada, it sure is popular in the USA! To quote some of the engineers on CN that drove them, they're "unkillable". A lot are still running 60+ years after entering service.
