A heavyweight passenger car: A comfortable seating area with plenty of windows to see the scenery: A birth certificate for a Great Northern SD7: An NP Russell snowplow and MILW plug door (reefer?) car: It's first light at Minot West, and with a long zoom we see the glint of a sunrise on the wheel faces of a grain hopper truck:
Thinking of @mmi16 's recent and enjoyable thread on 1948 B&O Public Timetable Excerpts, here are two latter day B&O locomotives that still carried the fallen flag. B&O GP-40 3741 (later CSX 6517, then TexMex 1169) at Lexington, KY [06/1978] CSX train 463 led by GP-40 6526 (formerly B&O 3750) at Weddell, SC [01/12/1992]
The polished brass on the observation car is a nice touch. A little detail that makes a lot of difference.
Thursday was grey, but it wasn't drizzling when this westbound showed up at Wyo JCT. He wasn't talking, so I never got a train number.
