The 1947 Freedom Train that I cobbled together from various N Scale pieces. This was a Life Like PA shell on a Con Cor chassis. I bashed a set of end doors onto the Santa Fe baggage car.
UP RS-27 rolling past the Super Chief at Sousa City. Same manifest rolling past the San Francisco Chief. the SF Chief is waiting for the super chief to depart before backing across the mains to the station. A little later, the train is climbing the grade out of Taylor Yard after a motive power change. Enjoy
Wow, Russell, great Freedom Train. To me, the REAL Freedom Train. I believe when I was 3 o 4 years old, we drove past this at Houston Union Station. Didn't go in or through the train. Of course, that may have been an imaginary memory. I'm not sure.
Oh Man, Just as I remember seeing AFT in Grand Central Station at the age of 12. Ok, 65 years may have blurred my memory, but Mother and Dad did take me onboard...honest!
I stood in line with my Scout Troop for several hours to view the documents contained within the Freedom Train when I was 9 years old. That was on Alameda Ave in downtown Los Angeles in 1947.
In a sudden flurry of activity this morning, grading crews pushed through Idaho Springs (including the team track) and continued 30 miles to just past the Coors Brewery in Golden. I thought that grading along the soffit would be a royal pain, vis: So after allowing the caulk to set for a bit, I cut the roadbed and removed the helix cap. Grading continued on the floor. The brewery is ready for track!
