The Katy Bluebonnet must have been diverted to enter Houston on the Sunset route. Seen here in Sugar Land.
Nice, Russell. I always like your water effect. Here are some of my weathered engines and rolling stock. This one has .006 inch brass handrail on a U36B shell. I went back to .010 inch wire after this one. Home made decals. Bachmann shell on a Life Like GP20 mechanism. Details added.
Here's a "family picture". Trying to build up the fleet. These are C&O cars I've built w/ the large herald. The 4000 through 5500 series was always my favorite. I have other series of C&O boxcars, single sheathed, Auto-Box, etc that I've done. These guys though will be a large part of the freight-fleet. The car in front, 4518, is being decaled this weekend when I'm not working on the trainroom.
That is one poor abused locomotive! Someone should call the proper authorities. I like your work on the brass wire handrails that's something I need to try doing myself on a couple locos.
Here's one more for me. My Athearn Blue Box GP35. Just finished detailing, etc. Ran it at the layout. Weathering next.
Mikel, I have always loved and been inspired by your photos here on TB but this new one with the figure and car is off the charts! Great job! My best, Jan
You've got to be kidding me! Mike, you're unreal. The reflections on the back of the automobile, the trackside detail, backdrop illusion of distant winter hills, model weathering and figure painting. You're unreal, man. I have never seen anyone else achieve your level of utter realism on a model railroad, diorama or cyclorama. I'm going to copy your style from now on and I'm not ashamed to say it. My hats off to you.
Wow thanks Jan and Jim. From what I can see, you're both doing marvellous work. I've lost count of the number of times I've had to paint that Presier figure. He gets hauled all over the place. I think his jeans are at least three different shades of blue Mike
mikelhh, Always love your photos. Your winter scene reminds me of this on my railroad, way back in 2001: Totally unintentional effect.
