Our club is setting up our NTRAK modules for the San Jacinto Model Railroad Club layout Tour this weekend. We needed to replace our old Rosenberg, Texas modules with something showing more interest so decided to strip some old generic modules and model Rosenberg flipped around in order model the down town area. Here is what I started with before demolition. Here is what I have so far. Still needs a lot of details and buildings that resemble the real thing. Used many of the old buidings as I could for now. Here is what the place looked like in 1963. The water tower was gone by then.
I went to the club last Tuesday. Since I was the only one running trains, I managed to setup some shots in the "Canyon." I need to figure out if my camera (Canon S2) has any "filter" options for shooting B/W, if not, rig something up as the red/gray separation does not show without a yellow filter.... GP9 3666 leads the Starpacer.
Say, you fellas know how to hit the deck running! :tb-biggrin::thumbs_up: I like the black and white images...the first one is a stunner! I am experimenting with a "old colour photo" look using FastStone. It isn't one of its settings, but I am playing with hues and contrast and saturation, etc. Anyway, hopefully this looks like what I hope it looks like...sort of. Also, I have begun to weather my engines, rolling stock, and the new Atlas caboose shown here for the N&W. Additionally, I added epoxy to the pit, near the central bearing, to simulate accumulated oily water after some rain.
Nice shots guys, here's a pic I took last weekend of my latest addion to the loco roster: a Kato AC4400 leading an intermodal hotshot up the mountain. Love those Kato diesels, just wish thast they would produce some Santa Fe/BNSF warbonnets otherwise I may have to change my avitar to UP... Ahhhgg.
Great pictures. The Rosenberg station looks like it would have been a great rail fanning spot: parking lot, restaurants, etc. Nice and comfortable. Here is another mirror shot. The buildings are on a bluff and the trains run through the cut. I put the mirror next to the tracks down in the cut to get a perspective of looking up at the buildings. I MS Paint-ed the sky as there were pictures and other items hanging on the wall in the background.
I have ripped up part of my layout in order to redo the table work which was shoddy at best. I - hope - I can force myself to do a very good job and prepare for expansion so I'll just post a fall pic of trains between buildings and through the trees. An oldie of mine by I like it: Taken on the way to work one day. I - should - have been on it but it was soooo nice out.
Check out what I found today. RTR body on a 100% Athearn BB chassis. No light board, no wires, no teeny tiny impossibly small bulbs.
Nice work on here. That first B&W pic is a beauty. After running out of ballast it was time to sit back and run some trains. Boston and Maine's turn this time. I was feeling too lazy to fix the backdrop. Mike
Some new additions to the HO layout... These cars are absolutely beautiful. The only problem is the cars double in price by the time you add the people in the seats. The last one is for the "peeping tom" burried deep in all of us.
Mike, nice images. Tony, is that the No Tell Motel? Good images, seriously. Love the pool...thumbs up!
I've found the time to work on my modules. Here is what I got: 1 - a train exiting the Gioba Pass tunnel 2 - this train is running on the old line, snaking through the rocks at Gioba Pass 3 - same train from above Ciao, Giovanni
Thanks Crandell. While your 'old' shot is very good, I do think it's a shame we miss out on the colour of your layout because I particularly like the greens you have. Even so, it's always fun to experiment anyway, and as I said it's very good. Skipgear I love that carload of passengers, and the swimming pool. Giovanni - love 2 and 3 A couple more from me, experimenting with some different lighting and my favourite loco too - Atlas RS11 The light looks a bit warm. I was trying for an early morning look. Lots to do to it yet. There will be snow here - one day... Mike
