A Pure Oil station in my hometown of Buckhannon, WV in 1963. This was during the WV Strawberry Festival parade, I'd like to find a better shot.

Nice photo of an occasion when everyone had good clean fun. 1963 was my birth year at that.

And I'd sure like to have that Chrysler convertible...:)

Nice parade! Must be early 60s, judging by that white Caddy's rear end.

Yeah, that and the Ford parked next to it. They still have not updated their flag to 50 stars.

Enco station in background. Because of the Enco sign, I don't believe the 1945 date on the print. Enco was a 60s thing.

Started very early 1960's, and slowly spread the next few years.

I used to have a whole bunch of this fellow's post card prints. Some of those also had questionable dates.

The Caddy is a '69 or '70. The Ford I believe to be a '68.

The tail lights look good for a '68.

Where are the "Flying A" and "Signal" gas stations. They are long gone now but I remember them well as I do 20 cent gas

The old Flying A brand went away exactly fifty years ago.

Interesting to study that facade. Looks like the building was re-purposed. I can faintly see where it says "Lunch Room".

In the town I grew up in Northern Michigan (50s and 60s) we had the following FULL service stations
    • Mobile 2 (one dropped Mobile and became off brand and is now closed)
    • Standard 2 (one closed in the early 70s the other in the mid 80 was tore down and rebuilt as a convenience store)
    • Gulf 2 (both closed in the late 60s)
    • Shell (Store quite selling gas in the early 80s)
    • Texaco (Store quite selling gas in the early 70s)
More stations have opened and closed since the 80s but I don't have a clue what is still there. Have not been there since 2004.
