Here are a few new pictures of my project I have been working on way too long. If you don't remember previous posts about this project, I am putting together a mixed consist to be pulled by rock Island. If you remember back in the 1940s, Rock island, and Southern Pacific joined into a venture to put together the consist called the "Golden State". Southern Pacific bailed out of the project before it got into full swing. However, Rock Island had already ordered their cars with the Golden State colors in support of the project. RI decided to simply use the cars anyway and absorb them into their exsisting consists.. Anyway, I have been working on putting together a "shorty" consist dedicated to this effort. This will be a mixed Rock island consist with some old, some new, and a couple cars from the failed Golden State project. There is a kit bashed con-cor smoothside, that has been shortened to add to this "shorty" consist that will sport the Golden State colors, as well as the Golden State observation car. The other cars in the consist will be an assorted RI colors combinations, including a couple older heavy weights made from the old Bachmann shorties. Other Budd cars using redecorated arnold shorties, and a couple shortened con-cor smoothsides. I'm far from done yet, still need some paint touch up, details, decals, and the MTL trucks installed. But, I did get to pull this project off the back burner and spend some time on it over the past couple days.
