Show us your favorite SP locomotive! Is it GPs, SD9s, Tunnel Motors, U-Boats, Krauss-Maffei? Show us a pic! Mine has got to be the GP9 especially with full light packages. When I first started railfanning in 1993, there were many left running around and somehow they made an impression on me. My buddy Jeff (who lurks but rarely posts), loves the good ole Cadillac.
I gotta be honest, since I started getting into SP, I have yet to find a Unit I didn't like. Though in particular, I like the Tunnel motors, the GP60s and the Caddies.
John Not sure how many they had but there are only 2 left. The one in the picture is fully restored at Niles Canyon Railway and the other is in Eureka, Ca on the NWP. Shannon

GS-1 like this one in San Antonio. And I never got to see one. I vaguely remember some steam in Tucson in 1956 but I believe these were all gone by then.
Tunnel Motors, of course Well, my favorite SP locomotives are the Tunnel Motors by far. I love SD40T-2 (SP and DRGW) and SD45T-2 (SP and SSW) They are so impressive with their extra long hood, and the see-through vents are so unusual. A real pleasure for my eyes.
Tough call, but I think mine will fall on to a couple of engines. The FP-7 and Fairbanks Trainmaster. I saw both as a kid and was able to get a few pictures before they disappeared. Greg
Mine would have to be anything in Black Widow livery but I'm partial to Geeps, Cadillacs, and Covered Wagons
