Here is something I got for Robin as she rode these when she was young , growing up on Long Island. Mike
a santa fe atlas-kato gp 35. I only buy the newer stuff found it on ebay supposed to be new but who knows. I enjoy getting them to run really quiet and smooth thanks to the ron bearden bearing block removal modification. done it many times and it has always worked. how he ever thought of that is amazing......
Fluff, do you have a link to Ron's modification? Is it posted somewhere? Will it only work on certain models/brands?
In honor of my son-in-law being hired by Amtrak, I bought some Kato Amtrak PH-I passenger cars. Sent from my SM-G530T using Tapatalk
I found it on the atlas forum when it was active a few years ago. I will see if I can find it or maybe someone reading this will. I think ron may have done it first on an atlas gp 40 if I remember correctly. its really easy to do. atlas, atlas-kato models are the only ones that I know of. I remember also some of the classic's were loud. the results I get are much quieter running and when you stop it quickly, it will coast farther. if a link is not found, I will tell you how I do it
I managed to pick up a 4-car set of Superliners in Phase III. Finally, some passenger cars to go with all my Material Handling Cars! I did a little photoshoot with a couple of them here.
Went to a train show in Pomona Ca and picked up a few new locos for the layout..... Was also able to get some nice rolling stock too... Steve Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
you got some great deals there.. I have a few of those spine cars sitting up on a shelf and I am pretty sure I paid more than you did for yours a few years back.. (still haven't unpacked them yet either!)
Those are some good deals! I know I paid more for those MT center beam cars just recently. I was thinking about going to that show this weekend : / How much did you get those Kato's for? ( if you don't mind me asking)
Thanks, there was a gentleman from AZ that had a ton of BN stuff.... Wish I could have taken them all! I paid $250 for the four Kato's - all new and track tested on spot. Three were also renumbered with new number boards too. There wasn't much N at this one though. Only two or three tables that really had it. One guy wanted full price for everything... Same Kato's for $140 each. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That is an awesome feeling getting good stuff for a good deal !! I haven't pulled anything close to that since the 2015 N-scale convention. Enjoy it
I just received the latest CP/SOO weathered covered hopper car 4 pack from Micro Trains. These are very nicely detailed cars as usual from Micro Trains.
Picked up an MT FTA unit for under 40 bucks. Unbelievably smooth runner. Better than any of my other models. Nice looking, too... Mark in Oregon
