Well I got some work done on the layout. basic benchwork is done, and have some cork laid. Now to lay some track so I can at least get a choochoo running Things have lost a bit of steam, no pun intended, on the layout as I have a new girlfriend who does require some of my time. At least she has an interest in model railroading, and realizes that she has to share me with them, so thats a good sign. Or maybe that all my engines are Canadian lines and she is Canadian... I dunno. I'll post some pictures up as soon as I remember to get some batteries for the camera. edit: pictures of the LAYOUT..
howdy all, Went on vacation for awhile and STILL am waiting for Peco code 80 turnouts. But, finished benchwork, and started on wiring. The thing I'm noticing is that basically anything I do takes about 5 times longer than I thought it would! Oh well, still plugging along, need to build a central control board now! Keep on partying!
Well I'm running trains, actually a loco and cars, around on the branch. and that is a good place to be. I've got all the track layed for the area I said I would, and am doing the wiring. Bascially running around, dropping extra feeders and cutting gaps, till I can run no stall. I have a combo of Atlas, Peco and Shinohara switches. I should post a pix but I'm painting the back- drop so I figured I'd wait till it was done. I'm struggling with having tailing mounds and etc. I think that is where I said I'd get to. How much time we got left. Will try and get some pix up soon.
Hi Guys, here is a pix of the area I worked on, cleaned up layed track, powered up and painted the backdrop. Obviously more to do. But Hey, it runs!!
I am new to the board but not new to model railroading. After years of modular rairoading I am finaly building a home layout. All the kids are gone and I took over one of there bedroom. It's 17' x 11', single mailine track running aprox. 170'. It take a train about 2.5+ min to complete the round. The layout is DCC w/36"r code 83 track and no. 8 switches. Since I like proto type pasenger trains I needed long runs. The max grade is 1.25%. With a small yard and a large turntable. The layout its operational but there is still a lot of work to do.
