Carts almost finished. Just need the fascia put on and then painted. This will make a 12' staging yard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Just wondering- I know the top is your focus, but will you be adding something to keep the shelves from sagging?
The back is 1/8" mesonite and the shelves are 15/32 plywood. I was thinking of running the 1x2 down the center if not along the front. I have some 1x4 as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
That looks like 12" wide, if you add 1x2 frames around the bottom of the shelves you will do fine. I would also add some support at the bottoms where you have the casters. You will get unwanted sagging if you don't. Dale "nine fingers" Baker
I got all excited when I saw your heading - I'm working on the UR too - except mine is the Union Railroad of Oregon ! Ah, well !
All great Stuff Kevin, looks you and the Girls are doing a good job, I like the idea of the storage under the staging yard, looks like you could even add shelves if you needed as well.
Yeah the idea is to be able to store the rolling stock that I won't need until a future date there. Be able to rotate it out as needed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Ok my staging yard carts are almost done. During operations they will be used and put in the hallway. When done they store nicely in the train room. I hope to have them finished and painted by sometime next week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Yep. It keeps her happy. I can use the space as long as the carts get put away. She even helped build them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Shaping up quite nicely. I'll be interested to see when you've got it where your satisfied for the moment. Mine is under construction also, but you're farther ahead than I. Big fun building
Finally was able to spend a day in the train room. I have my carts ready for paint and built the swing level across the door. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
Ok staging yard (carts) almost complete. They have been painted and have the digitrax UP5 in place. Now to run bus wire, power wire for the UP5, and loco er cable. Also time to glue on cork and then I can start laying track. I need to purchase two more switches and then woo hoo. I have a small gap to fill between my main layout and the staging yard, to do that I will be placing a small piece of plywood attached with a small hinge that will flip up and into place Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
