Well let's see what I came up with: Order 21 Jan. 7, 1974 - 6210, 6137 GP9s Order 22 Dec. 14, 1968 PC2649 - could this be a Penn Central U-25B???
By date, and addressing the engines as "PC" would indicate it is Penn Central. But I don't have any roster data. I'll try to put up a few more scans soon. Probably tomorrow. Boxcab E50
A crew copy form. Small, at about 4" by 5&1/2". Sloppy as in many cases. This must be a mine spur. But not certain exactly where. Lundale Number 2, West Virginia: Boxcab E50
Order 14 April 16, 1969 - 6185 - GP9 Order 9 Jan. 1st 1965 - 3028 - GP30 Order 321 Aug. 21 1969 - 2013 - RSD12; 6162 - GP9 There was reference to a Lundale Buffalo "shifter", and I think it worked the Amherst Coal Company. I think there was also a Buffalo Hollow and Buffalo Creek. Lundale was a mining town along Buffalo Creek. There was a really bad flood in that area in 1972 when the Pittston Coal Number 3 Dam broke.
Well, if you happen to come upon any further information, please post it. I'm curious as to the closest town. Maybe then I could find it's vicinity on an Atlas map. Boxcab E50
Okay, so you're looking for the location of "Lundale #2" coal mine? Looks like it was in Lundale. "In 1972 Amherst No. 5 mine and, Lundale No. 1 and No. 2 mines, all three of Amherst Coal Company (Lundale), was located at Lundale. Amherst No. 5 employed 18 persons and produced 50,000 tons annually. Lundale No. 1 mine employed 163 persons and produced 360,000 tons, and No. 2 mine employed 129 persons and 263,000 tons annually." link: http://www.marshall.edu/library/speccoll/virtual_museum/buffalo_creek/html/lundale.asp Following map site may also be of help: http://www.railsandtrails.com/ICC/CoalReserves/WestVirginiaCoal-150l.djvu See also: http://www.rootsweb.com/~wvcoal/ Regards Ed
Look around Logan and Man (Logan County - down in the southwest part of the state). There was lots of talk back in the 1970's about the flood/disaster being the fault of the mining companies, particularly the Pittston Coal Company. Edit - 125 people dead and 4000 left homeless...
Seems to me there was something on tv recently. History Channel? About a disaster where a mine tailings dam broke, and.... I wonder if this was the same event? Boxcab E50
I'm confused here. AKAIK- This was a regular train order office. I believe continuous? But this appears to be crew copied. Hmmm. Main Street (Buffalo), New York: Boxcab E50
