Order 37 March 19, 1953 - engine 5845 - GP7 Sept. 1, 1978 Buffalo NY - I think C&O leased trackage rights from New York Central there...wish I had more info... Order 374 june 26, 1962 - engine 5575 - RSD5 at Man - pretty close to the site of the Buffalo Creek flood. Order 102 Dec. 14, 1982 - engine 4280 - GP40-2; engine 3043 - GP30
I'm trying to remember- Is this location one that was sold to the TTI? A coal reload on the River? Maysville, Kentucky: Boxcab E50
Here's another question- Wasn't this once a joint location, with the New York Central? Can't think of the railroad name right now. It was owned 50/50 by NYC and C&O. This is actually near Rainelle? Now I remember- Nicholas, Fayette & Greenbrier RR... Meadow Creek, West Virginia: Boxcab E50
Order 115 Feb. 21 1966 - Marlette is in the middle of the "thumb" area here in Michigan. This was on the old Pere Marquette line that ran north from Port Huron to Saginaw. Order ? Nov. 25 1985 - Meadow Creek WV - this line was 50/50 C&O and NYC and was originally the Nicholas, Fayette & Greenbrier RR. This is (was) part of the Greenbrier Coalfield - near East Rainelle. There was a Meadow River Smokeless Coal Company there. Rainelle was the location of JD Cabin - which was painted Conrail blue back in the 1980s... Engine 4067 was a GP40 - engine 3844 was a B&O GP38. Both engines were probably in Chessie System paint at this time. Order 15 Dec. 24 1969 - Merlin Ontario Canada - this was ex-Pere Marquette territory. Engine 5963 was a GP9.
That would be order number 2. After reading many thousands of train orders, I am usually able to decipher handwriting. Sometimes not. Which then has me wondering how those crews can accept the order. mg: So what happened to the NF&G? Was it absorbed by one RR or the other? Still exists? Abandoned? Boxcab E50
One of my great grandfathers was born here. Have never been able to verify. But either he, or his father, supposedly worked for the C&O in that area. Mount Sterling, Kentucky: Boxcab E50
