Railway wise, I did A-OK! I got the same tie Telegrapher did from Santa-Brother! Also a resin-cast steam locomotive and a book about railways around the world from my Girlfriend (She's already with the "railroad" thing, isn't that GREAT?). Santa-Mom got me a new Railway Approved pocket watch with a leather belt snap case inbossed with "BWT". Santa-Sister gave me a "Bump-and-Go" Floor Locomotive. I also received lots of other cool gifts! But the best gift of all was to spend time with my Family and Girlfriend, both are pretty special! [IMG]

Two gift certificates to local hobby supply outlets from Mother-In-Law and Niece. Wifey bought me 6 hours of background painting. Three hrs. is done already and it's looking great. Another 3 should almost finish the room. I'll try to update my web site next week so you'll be able to see the results.

    Great Christmas!

Like Alan I got no railway related presents but did get many other good things and enjoyed seeing my family's pleasure at receiving one or two surprise presents they weren't expecting!

K V Div you must come from a rich family! Your list of goodies would satisfy about 10 people!

Paul, what makes me not surprised that beer figured in your list of presents?

    Happy new year everyone!

i know i will have 2 eras [IMG]
    </font>

Yeah! two eras. I justify my multiple era assortments by joining clubs wherever I move so I'll always be prepared. Last year I was in Kansas and a member of a modular club. Large modern stuff looked well there. This year I am in Hawaii and a member of the Oahu Model Railroad Society that has a layout in a restored narrow gauge box car. The club is going for a loose representation of the New Haven amoung other things. Can't imagine where all my six axle UP power is going to fit in [IMG]

You can also mount a display cabinet then until it is filled you'll have plenty of reasons to keep acquiring stuff.

As far as stuff from Santa (wife) goes: A couple more P2K SD60's, a P2K GP9, and someday a pair of Athearn SD70M's in UP color. Can't wait.

Oh, almost forgot. The most exciting of the bunch was Stephen Ambrose's "Nothing Like It In The World," about the buidling of the Central Pacific and Union Pacific. Absolutely a fantastic read, highly recommend it to everyone.

Not so much a rich family as a fairly interesting one.
My wife gave me the book, tools and Rye which supprised me as I had been expecting to find enough posts and fencing materials to replace the 100 ft or so of the back fence which she has been suggesting (More like hounding) that I fix.
A nephew and 2 nieces went together on the Passenger cars, and my father-in-law (who laments my "Wastfull" spending on "Toy Trains", yet unloads upwards of $10,000 a year on his model cars and golf game) gave me the Irish Creme and Sambuca.
The wine and underwear came from my mother (Who decided to wait untill Christmas was past to tell me that she has been diagnosed with lung cancer).
My dad sent me the re-loading supplies and the shirts and socks came from a grandmother, 2 aunts, 1 uncle, and my sister.
Also, from my brother was a gift certificate from the local computer store.
Robin, My hat is off to you and your family for your unselfish gift to the needy. Nice to see that someone cares. It makes my annual paltry donation ($25.00) to charity pale by comparison, and gives me something to think about in the new year.
To all the great people on this list I wish you all the best and a Happy New Year.
    Cheers!

    Terry

Terry, your reply is very sobering and makes me feel rather guilty about my somewhat flippant response to your original post.

What matters a million times more in this world than material objects is our relationships with the people we love and I am sorry that you have had to receive what must have been such shattering news about your mother.

Both my wife and I have lost close family from cancer and you have my sympathy at your unhappy news; I know what it is like.

With my best wishes and regards,

    Ben

    Terry,
I would like to second Ben's comment. It is with all my heart that I hope that the cancer is treatable. I lost my father to it a year and a half ago. Good luck and may God's grace be with you!!

It's already two pages long but what the hey -- I'll add my gifts to the mix -- My wife got me a joystick to operate my Roco crane (which I managed to burn out by the 26th) and a Soundtraxx decoder for the 2-8-0 she gave me two years ago. Plus two steam engine ornaments and a Christmas tree ornament (with trains running around the base of the tree). My 11-year old got an American and three (short, old-time) passenger cars for it to pull and some houses to build. My 6-year old got a Lionel track inspection truck (and lots of "Rescue Heroes").
Lots of trains in this house -- my HO (11x5'), my children's pre-war American Flyer O (4x8' around the tree); and some S equipment (with just a box of track that sometimes runs all around the house) to remind me of my beginnings.
I hope everyone had a great holiday and wish everyone a great new year

Jan and I decided that since we had everything we needed, we would give eachother one gift, then give clothes and sundries to others. I got Jan one of Charlie's balsom pillows since Jan is from Maine, and she was thrilled with the smells of home. It is well worth the money, now our home smells like the pines in the mountains which I like also. Jan got me a set of railroad tech. books, so everyone was happy. Happy new year to all of you.
We have been having problems with flash.net who was purchased by prodigy, who has been purchased by SoWesternBell now, so drops off line, wont always come on line, or doesn't send e-mails, and sometimes will hold output and deposit it later. Strange. Of course there is noway to reach Flash.net now either, its all crazy. We may just go off line without notice even though our contract isn't up til June.

Oldest Daughter gave me Cecil the Conductor. He was born on Nov. 28th, 2000 at build-a-bear in Indianapolis Indiana. She clothed him in bib overalls and a stripped engineers hat. He is realy cute and has been my road companion several times since Christmas. It is funny how many funny looks a 52 yr old gets when he has a stuffed bear sitting on a box in the front seat of the pickup with him. LOL LOL. She also gave me a license plate for the front of my pickup with a steam locomotive and my name with a frame that is heavy enough to keep me from pulling wheelies.
