I did copy the printed rulers and also checked out the steel rulers at 'Fifer Hobby' and 'Amazon'. They are the same except for $.25. I bought the one from 'Fifer' along with another item I wanted. The scale has O and HO on this side. Those are my N trains. The back side of the scale has N and some reference charts. Along with a printed copy of the N scale. And my new computer so I can do such things now. Also got a new flip phone. Richard
The only thing i dont like about those rulers: The rulers doesn't start at the very end. There is a 1/8" gap between the end and the begining of the ruler. It is frustrating to stand the ruller on end and try to get a vertical n scale measurement...ggggggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Yup...this spring I will take one of the two I have into the workshop and fire up the grinder and carefully grind off the end of the N scale rule until its starts like it should... I figure the problem is/was: (1) QC when they where made. (2) The ruler was designed by one of them HOers with a warped sense of humor figuring he would mess with the N scalers heads by doing it that way ! I am going with (2)... .
Mine has the small extension with finer markings. If need be I could take the printed version, trim it down and fasten it to a stiff material. Then the N scale would be a full 12 inches long. The metal one N is only 6 inches long. I could do the same with HO. I don't believe I will ever return to O. Richard
