Yes, I do know this series of cars These are old Reading Cars #18800-18828 which were renumbered to D&H #24597-24628 so you truely have D&H#24625 on the lot. I will see what more I can dig up on this for you too. Can these be posted on the DHVM as well with full credit & location?
Yes, you may use the full and detail shots. I appreciate the confirmation that we have a genuine article. Whatever additional info you may find will be included in the DRM's equipment roster. Thanks for the help.
Thanks!!!!!!! Here is some more information from the BLHS #24401-24547: Ex RDG 18600-18749 Cars #24548-24597: Ex RDG 18750-18799 Cars #24598-24627: Ex RDG 18800-18829 Cars #24657-24696: Ex RDG 18860-18869 Cars In the book "D&H Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment" on page 62 it also speaks of these cars The photo on that page of #24601 shows markings you see on #24625 such as the "DF" when it was in prime condition. Also on that page is #24576 which also shows the "DF" marking.
Hey! I just fell out of sight for a few months. Everything is good. I may have a few slides of those ex-Reading boxcars shown above. Just need to get the scanner back up and running. stay tuned.
I was going to post some blue and grey lightning stripes, but after reinstalling the scanner I just can't get the images sharp. I've done everything as in the past but no luck. This is one of the sharper images. [ 31. January 2005, 04:23: Message edited by: Don Rickle ]
I would check your DPI as it might be set rather low as my first hunch. Still, I'm always looking for more material so I will take anything you can offer and if you improve the scans later then I can replace the images on the web site with the better version later.
Darren, info for DHVM. Above U33C was shot in October 1985 at Mechanicville NY. Also, who is this "Dave" Rickle who has taken credit for my D&H caboose shots in the DHVM? I see there is some other dates missing, I'll give you the info soon. (got to get off line). I wish my scanner worked. That DHVM is one cool site, you are one dedicated soul!
OOPS! Typo... I will get those labels fix soon... Thanks Again!!!!!!! Follow-Up: The Caboose section should be fixed now [ 01. February 2005, 00:45: Message edited by: Stourbridge Lion ]
The D&H still endures - kind of! Seen today 6/26/05 in PA: There was another in the consist with a really shiny looking shield. Chris ------------------------------------------------------- Railroad equipment Close-Ups: http://www.dataviewbooks.com/rr.html
Most certainly. The image was shot 6-26-2005, at Coraopolis, PA on CSX's ex-P&LE line. There was at least one other D&H car in the consist. Chris
