The last is Halloween, the first is Bow Wave... isn't the second Halloween too? It didn't look the same on cab units.
All the Tyco scheme-painted SP diesels I ever saw were either filthy or had peeling paint (gotta do a better job of prepping the surface there, Bunky). Two more reasons I don't like that scheme.
ANd I thought UP's "Daylight" Heritage scheme stank.... Yep.......in all its garish "glory". Even the Daylight scheme would have been an improvement (hmmm.........a Daylight-painted tunnel motor.....................)., at least the one as seen on the SD45s in the pic in an earlier post. For the record, I didn't care for the Tyco scheme on Santa Fe engines, either.
This must be the source for the Bachmann GE U36B model livery that they made. I do not think that there were any U36Bs on the SP - but I had thought they had made up the livery too. The Bachmann model has a reasonable interpretation of the livery shown here. As a newcomer to the SP from 'over the pond', I really like the Black Widow livery for freight, and think that Daylight looks great on both GS and PAs. The Lark livery looks very smart in photos and on my N gauge models - I am not sure how well it aged, though. Peter Harris
Peter, Welcome aboard!! Always happy to have another SP fan around! Yes, this is the scheme Bachman was trying for. They put it on GP40-2s as well. Espee fans refer to it as "Popcicle".
