    Yikes!

To do that kind of damage must have taken a lot of impact force. That front end is not just crumpled, it's shredded. If there was someone in there, it would have been a miracle if they survived.

Yes, the original oneā€¦.and the best.
A myth of my childhood and the main reason why i asked my grandfather to buy a (then extremely expensive) Rivarossi Orient Express set, together with an Italian Pacific steamer, when he retired in 1984. It costed half a monthly salary at that time.

I'm guessing these units were the power involved in that derailment earlier noted, at Granby. I wonder if either was rebuilt?

That would be correct. Lead unit 301 was rebuilt. Trailing 246 was scrapped.

Yeah, I visited it over 20 years ago. Lots of cool pieces in their collection.
Here I am trying to obtain a souvenir off of ATSF 2-10-4 #5011.

Wow, the original FT. She looked every bit as beautiful in that Southern scheme as she did/does in her original EMD demonstrator scheme!

One of the B units from that demo set is at the Museum of Transportation in Roanoke, Virginia. They borrowed it for the 50 anniversary of the FT celebration and painted them both up in the demo paint scheme. It was looking a little shabby by the time this photo was taken.
