Found a mention about April 16th 1985 near Granby CO when the California Zephyr derailed because of landslide debris. No deaths, 32 injured. Yikes! To do that kind of damage must have taken a lot of impact force. That front end is not just crumpled, it's shredded. If there was someone in there, it would have been a miracle if they survived.

Wow, the original FT. She looked every bit as beautiful in that Southern scheme as she did/does in her original EMD demonstrator scheme!
One of the B units from that demo set is at the Museum of Transportation in Roanoke, Virginia. They borrowed it for the 50 anniversary of the FT celebration and painted them both up in the demo paint scheme. It was looking a little shabby by the time this photo was taken.
