It's hydrocal from the hardshell scenery. The floor was covered. This type of bracing eliminates any legs to stub your toes on. I had one guy stop by and was questioning it until I had him put his entire 250 + pounds of weight on it and it never moved at all. It's an old cabinet makers trick.
That slope at the moment is just screwed both ends, and some nonails to stop it sagging, when I get the track laid it will be boxed in from the top and that will support and brace it. It will then be painted sky. I didn't want any brackets below as this would be seen on the main operation level. Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191
It has been a while since there has been any update/progress on the new South Lewistown. But I have had the first movement by a powered loco today, it is still the basic loop but at least it is electrified, I tested the tightest curve with my longest freightcar which was my scratchbuilt 65' Gondola with no issues. I was peeking at your pics again, what is the grade on that ramp track? It looks so steep in the photo, but pictures can be deceiving. And if it's not exactly prototype, who cares; you just need a way to get from level one to level two.
The grade is 1:what fit it will only be visable for a short section, I have no idea yet if I will be able to get anything up it but it will just need one loco and 3 40' cars per train. When I get some more rail joiners I will give it a test but that part of the layout is phase 2. Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191
Unfortunately I have a lot of trackage still to get down before I can even think about ground cover. Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191
I have had this for more years than I care to remember, it was partly stripped years ago and never got the full MC treatment. It was the only loco in the railway shed to test with, the rest are in a display case. Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191
Years ago Matt and I visited a model shop in London and Matt asked for this loco. Baldwin? Anyway the guy said he could either have it in Erie Lackawanna, Erie Lackawanna or Erie Lackawanna. So Matt chose Erie Lackawanna! He decided to strip it ready for MC paint, but it ended up as seen, and looked so good he left it as is! Maybe it will get repainted one day, but will be a shame to lose that faded paint job Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I was also offered one in undec, but that also looked like Erie Lackawanna... Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191
Gotta love those old Athearn blue-box diesels! I have a Baldwin S12 and two SW& shells that I can put on some older chassis. Yours looks like it's been rode hard & put away wet- in short, ideal for a worn-out switcher.
I am going through my locos seeing how they run after 5 years in storage, the Kato/Atlas ones are still smooth as silk, the Proto 2000 ones need some work, my S1 hardly moves. Had a little helper with this task. Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191
Pleased to report that my favorite locos a pair of Stewart Hobbies F7's go round the tightest curve. Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191
Continuing to test out my locos, I have a problem with my Proto 2000 GP20 and GP30. Out of the 8 axles 6 are split and cause them to ride lumpy. Sent from my HTC Desire HD A9191
