Wheeler Jewelry. Which is between 1st and 2nd on the east side of Main Street (Highway 93.) Surprisingly, my travels around that town rarely take me through the old business district. Everything is so spread out now. Yes. That view is south. As seeing the old courthouse shows. Boxcab E50
Its a small world, you think its the same clock? I remember a branchline running south along 93 to the tie mill on the northern end of Flathead lake, have they pulled the rails?
Yes. It certainly can be a small world. Could very well be the same clock. Rails to the Somers tie plant long ago removed. Cut back to the feed mill by Hiway 93. Then pulled out back into Kalispell, several years ago. There's just enough left now, to allow some room for running around the wye. The mill property was sold last year. So tracks remaining west of Meridian Rd seem to be on borrowed time. The mayor and associated idiot squad, trying to chase the RR completely out of downtown. Boxcab E50
Thank you for the information Boxcab. I monitor these threads for new information and pictures (TY Hemi ) When I find something , I like to share, hope you guys don't mind.
What a great thread to stumble on !! Brings back great memories from a few years back ... driving truck up and down I90 , takin pics of scenery around Missoula when I ran out of "Hours of Service" there ... ( The winds sure do blow !! Several times thru the area I remember seeing my trailer in one rear view mirror and seeing nothing in the other mirror ... time to pull over and investigate another town !! I 've talked about a move to Big sky Country , but , my "Better half" is an Arizona gal and said N. IL is as far north as she is going ... I go to Montana alone !
The last light of the day, coupled with storm cloud skies, bathe the depot in a wonderful glow that reflects off the mighty Missouri River:
Apparently, Railpictures.net doesn't think it's what they are looking to publish. Oh well. Glad you enjoyed it! I sure enjoyed watching it!
"Your appeal for photo id 521356 has been processed and has been rejected. Admin Comments >> There really needs to be some sort of rail-related activity in the frame, not just the station building. >> http://www.railpictures.net/viewreject.php?id=521356&key=1170340333" Wow. Anywho....
Wow. Talk about arrogance. Is a historical object view less railroad, than dreary, repetitive views of stack trains traversing miles and miles of nothing? I might guess you're up against someone too young to understand something vital- There was not always rail activity at any given railroad station. I know a lot of people who won't post stuff to that site, due to goofy decisions such as this one. Boxcab E50
Excellent shot Hemi!! In the right place at the right time. I could see that at the top of a calander someday.
Ken hit the nail on the head. 98% of the stuff on RP.net is pretty boring; truely artistic, scenic shots from rare angles are dismissed. Wierd. If I didn't aim to publish some photos someday, I wouldn't bother.
Great pictures Hemi, as usual. I wonder about those folks at RP.net, seems like what you guys are saying, they only want modern stuff. On another subject I apologize for my broken picture links a few pages back, I have since fixed them, it made the thread look bad. :tb-embarrassed:
From a bit of past browsing I've done, there is some "older" stuff. 1970's and so on. But the site seems to have a good proportion of more recent years. Post it here. We're all about enjoying what people have found in their explorations. Boxcab E50
I dont understand how a picture like this http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=235022 makes it while others (Hemi) don't. Oh well
