Some folks might argue on this one. But, the common carrier railroad is gone. The tracks now government owned. Just excursion trains by a historical group. The main yard, and engine facilities removed from town. It is in reality, a Fallen Flag. Belfast & Moosehead Lake Railroad. Belfast, Maine: Boxcab E50
When you say small, how small are we talking? I am not familiar with that part of the world As ususal I am impressed with the paperwork John
The Montpelier & Wells River Railroad was (is?) part of the CP network. This was the route of the Alouette and Red Wing, two trains that B&M shared with CP between Boston and Montreal until October 1956. The Alouette was the day train, and the Red Wing was the night train. Both trains swapped crews and engines at Wells River, NH, though sometimes the engines would go all the way through...dunno why. :embarassed:
Am thinking of lines probably well under 100 total miles. That may have only had a couple of open offices, during their lifetime. Boxcab E50
John- At one time or another, most had freight, passenger, and even milk trains ongoing all at once. These are good, old fashioned common carrier companies. Although I may toss in at least one example from a tourist only type operation. Boxcab E50
Rare and crumbly. Hard to scan, as I won't remove it from it's protection. Boston & Lowell RR from Hudson, Massachusetts. Dated 1886: Boxcab E50
I know it's not a Fallen Flag. But just had to insert it, for their famous old trackage- Conway Scenic Railroad. Yup. They did make their own, and use train orders! North Conway, New Hampshire: Boxcab E50
Way too cool!! I love the one from 1886 . Say...here is a money making scheme (can't help it, I am a small business owner after all)..take your blanks, reproduce them on yellowed paper stock and sell them to us on TB to use as stationary !! Make copies of the those you have that are filled out and sell them to the various railfans around (I'll take copies of the the C & S ones, and previous railines ). Just a thought. Man, keep em comin' I love these things (maybe I have room for one more hobby...) John
I actually have, and do sell some extras on that 'Net auction site.... The market is not large. A few items to bring in some serious $$$. But there is some interest. Wish there was more. However, most folks go for the glitsy stuff- Lanterns, china, locks, keys, timetables. Which is puzzling. As no RR could operate without the stuff I collect! Interesting how many know what is depot is/was. Yet have no clue what went on there! mg: Boxcab E50
